Fish Creek - A fine line between Summer and Fall

Posted by Picasa
Man, I haven't post any picture for so long. Here is a picture that I took at the Fish Creek Provincial Park in Calgary. This area is called the Glennfield. I like this picture a lot of because of the contrast between the summer and fall. Yes, winter is coming...

The Iron Ring!

Posted by Picasa

This is an interesting picture that I took when I was working on a photography assignment for a Facebook group. My objective is to use shadow to create an interesting image.

Since it is winter time in Calgary and it is too cold for me to go out and look for any ideal subject. I decided to borrow the idea of the "The One Ring" from the link above.

I didn't realize how hard to balance the ring on the desk. So I spun the ring, and took multiple camera shot with 1/1000 s shuttle speed. The picture is one example.

The hardiest part is focusing, because I used a high aperture 4.5F, if the spinning ring goes outside of the focus range, I would have a blurry ring.

I did manage to make a ring stand by itself. Looks pretty nice.

However, I like this one the most. Using the sun light reflection on the desk, it created a high contrast image with the ring, which make the ring and its shadow looks astonishing!

Posting picture using Windows Live Writer

I have been using Windows Liver Writer Beta version. I really like to use it to post my blogs. However, the one issue that I have is that I can't simply add picture though Windows Live Writer. My work around is to put the picture on my post first, and edit it later on.

Picture taken near by Bow Valley Rand at Fish Creek Provincial Park.

Hey, it works. Now I wonder where does the picture actually stored.

Cell Phone Pictures

Obviously, picture taken by most cell phone doesn't turn out as good as your regular camera.  Unless you have got one of those 3.0MP cell phone. But even so, the quality still highly depends on the lighting, and the camera's lenses.

Picture taken from my Sony Ericsson Z710i + Photoshop enhanced.

With some editing, the photo looks much better, although some details are loss during the process.

What am I trying to say here? I want to say that even with a camera phone, by doing some editing, it can turn out a fairy good picture. So, don't be discourage by not taking a picture when you got camera phone and no DC.

Hong Kong Night View

My favorite so far! I took the picture at the peak a mountain in Hong Kong during my vacation. It was cold and pack with people, because it was Christmas eve and there was a special event.

After I jammed myself in the pack of people to the edge of the balcony, I was able to take as many pictures as I wanted. It is the best scenery in Hong Kong.

Of course, in the end, I enhanced the contrast and the color of this photo using Photoshop.

Milky Way

My first nice picture of the Milky Way taken from the Banff. Unfortunately my camera (D70s) was producing this two pinkish spot. I don't know how to use PS to remove it.

Oh well, next time, I will get a f1.8 lens for better photo. Of course, this would cost me a lot of money which I won't get it until I am rich.
